The Timeball Tower and Deal Maritime and Local History Museum are now closed for the winter whilst the volunteers rest and prepare exhibits for next year.
Deal Castle and Walmer Castle are open at weekends during the winter and are open at some additional times during holidays.

The Deal Maritime and Local History Museum are presenting an illustrated talk by well known local historian and diver David Chamberlain about the Great Storm of 1703.

Fifty years ago, an Act of Parliament was passed which enabled Councils to designate Conservation Areas. Within months, Middle Street Conservation area in Deal was created – the first in Kent and one of the first in the country.
To commemorate the anniversary of conservation areas, The Deal Society is showing an exhibition in the Deal Maritime and Local History Museum, from Tuesday 13 June to Sunday 25 June, to explain the history of conservation areas and why they are still important.

As our museums gear up to their opening for another year, here are their opening times over the Easter weekend (14 to 17 April).
Deal Castle: Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday – 10am to 6pm
Maritime and Local History Museum: Friday (2pm to 4.30pm), Saturday (11am to 4.30pm), Sunday and Monday (12 noon to 4pm)
Timeball Tower: Saturday, Sunday and Monday – 11:30am to 4:30pm
Walmer Castle: Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday – 10am to 6pm
The Deal Society, the Addelam History Research Group, Deal Town Council and Walmer Parish Council are again working together to encourage local venues to participate in Heritage Open Days. Last year we succeeded in getting 18 events, with a record attendance. The 2017 open days are the 7-10 September, but we are focussing on the Saturday and Sunday.
