Deal Memorial Bandstand

Built to commemorate the lives of the 11 Musicians who were killed when the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) exploded a bomb at the Royal Marines School of Music in 1989.

Julius Caesar

This memorial indicates the area where many historians believe a force led by Julius Caesar landed in 55BCE.

Court Lodge

A Grade 2 listed timber-framed house dating back to the 16th century, re-fronted in the 18th century and bearing a “Historic Building of Kent” plaque.

Queen Anne House

A Grade 2* listed house with a “Historic Building of Kent” plaque (one of four buildings of that grade in Deal and the only house).

Waiting Miner Sculpture

A bronze statue of a crouching miner which looks toward the site of the former Betteshanger Colliery.

Elizabeth Carter

Elizabeth Carter (16 December 1717 – 19 February 1806) was an English poet, classicist, writer and translator, and a member of the Bluestocking Circle.

Dunkirk Memorial

The memorial was unveiled in May 2025 to honour the men and boats who sailed to rescue soldiers from Dunkirk during Operation Dynamo.

Deal Pier Statue

‘Embracing the Sea’ is a 3m tall bronze sculpture made by Jon Buck in 1998 and is inscribed as a bequest by Frank Seymour Kennett.

Captain Parker was a close friend of Admiral Lord Nelson whose thigh was shattered by shot during an ill-fated raid on Boulogne on 15 August 1801. He was taken to lodgings in Middle Street where he died aged just 22. Nelson was stricken with grief, arranging and paying for a funeral in the town with full military honours before erecting a monument to Parker’s memory – the only monument in this country known to have been donated personally by Lord Nelson. At Nelson’s request, some of Parker’s hair was preserved for eventual burial with the admiral, a token of their special friendship.

Burma Star Association Memorial

The memorial was constructed by members of the Deal and Dover Burma Star Association in memory of their comrades who fell in the Burma Campaign of the Second World War.
